Overview
Twined is a minimalist society simulator with a branching story, no words, and all in watercolor.
It's a story-rich adventure set in a land of tribes at war, where every choice shifts the cultural values of your society and alters its future.
You'll explore a world where every decision matters—between helping yourself or helping the group, acting now or waiting, chasing quick rewards or holding out for something greater.
But there's no written language here. In Twined, meaning is found through images, sounds and intuition.
And if you lose your way, you might dream of something useful—or follow your spirit animal.
Features
The combination of society simulation and a branching story allows the player to build their own adventure every time they play – shaping their community and unlocking unique quests and new paths in the story.
  • Minimalistic Society Sim
    Both the player's character and the NPCs are assigned a set of social and personal values. The tribe's values evolve based on the player's actions and interactions. This shifts social dynamics and creates a unique game experience.
  • Branching Narrative
    The player's choices steer the story on different paths that could lead the tribes to war or to harmony.
  • Replayable Structure
    You can impersonate up to five members of the tribe, each with their own values. Start a new game with a different character or play a New Game+ with the tribe exactly as you left it and see how your previous decisions echo forward.
  • No Text, Highly Immersive
    The story is narrated entirely through images, sound, and a tribal symbolic language. Players find meaning by interpreting their dreams and the world around them.
  • Fully Hand-Drawn Art Style
    Every element is hand-illustrated. Backgrounds are painted in watercolor on real paper, scanned and animated into the world.
